  25. Actually, I'm a Penril distributor with Los Altos Networks. Of course, we
  26. also sell other modems.

  28. Don't take this person's word at face value. I'm pro-AT&T Paradyne when it
  29. comes to modems, but I will not dismiss his comments as they are true to a
  30. degree.

  32. In my current situation, my line is pure hell. Why? Because the phone
  33. company screwed up. Anyways, with my Dataport 14.4(not Express) and my
  34. Comsphere 3820+, I am able to maintain better data throughput by enabling
  35. Cellular Enhance(ETC) and using it as a one-way noise filter. It helps,
  36. although sometimes the line is so horrible I measure it in a noise to
  37. signal ratio and I can't maintain a connection.

  39. Bottom line is that if you have a modem with cellular protocals, enable
  40. them, as it may help to a certain degree.
